On September 14, Google confirmed it no longer supports the num=100 parameter, which previously allowed SEO tools to display up to 100 results on a single search page.
This change affects many SEO tools, including thruuu. Until now, num=100
made it possible to extract 100 results in a single request.
The good news: getting 100 results is still possible.
The catch: it now requires visiting 10 separate Google pages (pagination). That means 10× more server calls… and higher costs to process.
In this article, I’ll explain:
- What exactly changed in thruuu
- How it affects key features (SERP analysis, briefs, clustering, AIO reports, API)
- What this means for you as a user
TL;DR: The impact for users is limited, and we worked hard to minimize the cost on your end.

What Changed for SERP Analysis & SEO Content Briefs
Previously, you could choose the number of results to analyze (from 10 up to 100).
Now, you can still analyze up to 100 results, but instead of selecting results, you select the number of Google pages (1–10). On average, each page has 10 results, though this may vary slightly.
When you launch a SERP analysis or create a brief, you’ll see a new dropdown to select the number of pages.

In addition, thruuu now shows which page each result comes from directly in the results view. This makes it easy to identify who ranks on page 1.

Best Practices
- If you’re planning to create new content, focus on the first 2 pages. That’s where you’ll find the most relevant terms, questions, and topic ideas.
- Explore additional pages if you want to uncover more angles or long-tail opportunities.
Updates for Keyword Clusters & AIO Reports
Keyword clustering and AIO Reports follow the same principle: you upload a list of keywords, and thruuu analyzes the SERPs.
Before
- By default, thruuu extracted the top 100 results per keyword.
- This allowed you to see:
- Your best page for any keyword cluster and its ranking (positions 1–100).
- Your organic ranking for any keyword in the AIO Report (positions 1–100).
Now
You can choose to analyze the top 20, top 50, or top 100 results per keyword.
- The more results you analyze, the deeper the insights.
- Example: if you select top 50 and one of your articles ranks 65th, you won’t see it.

Best Practices
- Top 20 → Perfect when you’re building a content plan from scratch. The clustering algorithm mainly uses the top 10 anyway, so this is often enough.
- Top 50 or Top 100 → Useful when you want detailed insights about your domain, track underperforming articles, or get a fuller view of your competitive landscape.

API Changes
If you use the SERP API, you’re probably familiar with the num parameter.
- Before: num defined the number of results to extract (1–100).
- Now: num defines the number of Google pages to fetch (1–10).
The parameter name stays the same, but its meaning has shifted.

Credit System Update
Previously, extracting 10 results or 100 results cost the same.
Now, fetching 100 results requires 10× more server calls, which increases our costs.
We’ve updated the credit system, but ensured you don’t absorb the full impact.
SERP Analysis & Briefs Cost
No change:
- 1 credit → SERP analysis (1–10 pages)
- 5 credits → Content brief
Keyword Clustering & AIO Reports Cost
Here we introduced new tiers, based on how many results per keyword you want to analyze:
- Up to 20 results → 50 credits per 1,000 keywords
- Up to 50 results → 100 credits per 1,000 keywords
- Up to 100 results → 200 credits per 1,000 keywords
In short, analyzing up to 100 results costs 4× more credits, while it costs us 10× more. We absorbed most of the extra load to keep things fair.
Recap Table
Feature | Before num=100 | After num=100 |
Analyze 1 SERP | 1 credit | 1 credit |
Create 1 Brief | 5 credits | 5 credits |
Bulk SERP (100 keywords) | 100 credits | 100 credits |
Bulk Brief (100 keywords) | 500 credits | 500 credits |
1 SERP API call | 1 credit | 1 credit |
1 Brief API call | 5 credits | 5 credits |
Cluster / AIO Report (1,000 keywords, up to 20 results) | N/A | 50 credits |
Cluster / AIO Report (1,000 keywords, up to 50 results) | N/A | 100 credits |
Cluster / AIO Report (1,000 keywords, up to 100 results) | 50 credits | 200 credits |
Conclusion: thruuu Remains Complete and Affordable
In short, your credit usage will likely remain similar to today, depending on your use case.
What hasn’t changed is that thruuu continues to offer a rich set of features, from SERP analysis and briefs to clustering and AIO reports… while staying one of the most affordable solutions on the market compared to similar tools.
